There was a discussion going on in one of the groups – is it possible to approach spirituality without a teacher or learning or psychotropic substances or methods or authorities? Just felt like penning something here about it.
My perception is that spirituality is all about awareness – being mindful of every single moment – experiencing everything with detachment.
Yes, life experiences can teach you to align yourself to this space, without doing a course or following a certain way. The healing modalities, books, and teachers who you come across in your journey are tools and paths.
Understand them. Experience them. Integrate the learnings and then, transcend beyond them, if required. Do all these from a space of attachment.
A guru is the one who shows the pathway to transmute darkness to light. While Dronacharya was an awesome teacher, he could never step up to the energies of a guru. A guru is detached. A guru has a clear sense of discernment.
He/she does not get into the space of a savior. They love everyone but are not attached to anyone. Anybody who talks to the guru will find themselves in a space of love and peace.
The same applies to religious texts also. Be it Bhagavad Gita or Bible or Qur’an or Guru Granth Sahib, all of them are much more than religious texts. The way the texts have been interpreted, possibly, could be the reason why they have been given the colors of fear.
Be it a Mantra or an affirmation or yoga, everything is healing. Everything is spiritual. There is no distinction. Everything is the same, just that people feel they have been colored differently because of the perception they carry.
There is nothing except the Absolute that we can call the absolute truth or authority. Everything is right in its own way. Always remember it is the way someone interprets adds a different color to something. Just like the colors look different on different screens (phone, laptop, desktop, television), it is all in your view and perception.
